The Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services in accordance with project technical specifications, approved budgets, and delivery schedules. The role ensures that all procurement activities meet quality standards, cost targets, and contractual requirements while supporting timely project execution. The Procurement Engineer coordinates closely with Engineering, QA/QC, Planning, and Commercial teams to ensure compliance with project and client expectations.
Review project specifications, drawings, and BOQs to identify procurement requirements.
Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to approved vendors and subcontractors.
Conduct technical and commercial evaluation of supplier quotations in coordination with concerned departments.
Ensure materials and equipment comply with project specifications and approved material submittals.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost efficiency.
Prepare purchase orders and ensure all technical and commercial terms are clearly defined.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials in line with project schedules.
Maintain proper documentation of procurement activities, correspondence, and approvals.
Track and monitor material delivery status and update the project team regularly.
Coordinate with QA/QC team to ensure materials are inspected prior to delivery and site usage.
Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and procurement procedures.
Support value engineering initiatives to optimize material costs without compromising quality.
Assist in resolving supplier-related issues including delays, non-conformance, or technical discrepancies.
Monitor procurement budgets and report cost variances to the Procurement Manager.
Maintain updated procurement logs and vendor performance records.
Ensure that at least 90% of procurement packages are processed within the planned timeline and budget.
Support tendering and estimation teams by obtaining budgetary quotations.
Coordinate with Logistics to ensure proper shipment and customs clearance when required.
Maintain and update the approved vendor list.
Ensure ERP system updates (preferably SAP) for purchase orders and procurement tracking.
Participate in supplier evaluation and performance review meetings.
Ensure compliance with HSE policies and company Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures.
Assist in contract close-out and final account processes related to procurement packages.
Strong knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain management principles.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
Understanding of construction materials, equipment, and engineering standards.
Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
ERP knowledge (preferably SAP) is highly preferred.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to manage multiple procurement packages under tight deadlines.
Minimum 5–8 years of total experience.
At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in procurement within construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management are an advantage.
