Job Title: Shop Supervisor – Salvo Grima Duty Free Algeria
Location: Algiers (with frequent travel to other locations within Algeria)
Languages: Fluent English, French & Arabic
About Us:
Salvo Grima Group operates in eight countries in Europe and Africa, specialising in international trade and travel retail. We supply and operate several Travel Retail Duty-Free outlets at airports and cruise ports across the Mediterranean region, including airports in Algiers and Oran. Our product range includes skincare, tobaccos, liquors, and more.
Role Summary:
Our Group is due to launch a new set of duty-free outlets at airports in Algeria and therefore requires an experienced sales professional to join as Shop Supervisor. The ideal candidate would be a highly sales-driven individual with strong sales accumen.
Since our Duty-Free operations is 24/7, the ability to work additional or flexible hours and to travel at short notice is essential. Experience in sales involving retail or airport operations would be considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
Ø Team Leadership and Management:
· Supervise, coach, and motivate the retail team to achieve individual and store sales targets.
· Organize daily team briefings to communicate goals, promotions, and operational updates.
· Ensure training and onboarding new team members.
· Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and address performance issues when necessary.
Ø Operational Excellence:
· Oversee store operations, ensuring proper opening, closing, and daily maintenance procedures.
· Manage inventory levels, conduct stock checks, and coordinate with the warehouse to ensure timely replenishment.
· Ensure compliance with duty-free and customs regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
· Prepare and submit sales reports, performance metrics, and operational updates to management.
Ø Customer Service:
· Ensure the team delivers exceptional customer service to an international clientele.
· Address escalated customer queries, complaints, or disputes professionally and efficiently.
· Promote a customer-first culture, focusing on creating a positive shopping experience.
Ø Sales and Visual Merchandising:
· Support the team in achieving sales targets by promoting products, upselling, and driving customer engagement.
· Implement and maintain visual merchandising standards to enhance the appeal of the store.
· Handle customer transactions, including cash, card, and digital payments, efficiently and accurately.
· Collaborate with category team to execute promotions, discounts, and new product launches effectively.
Ø Health, Safety, and Security:
· Maintain a clean, safe, and secure store environment for customers and staff.
· Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations, especially in high-traffic areas.
v Skills and Qualifications:
· Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of retail or supervisory experience, preferably in travel retail or luxury retail.
· Leadership: Proven ability to manage and motivate a team in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
· Sales Expertise: Strong understanding of retail operations, sales techniques, and customer engagement strategies.
· Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with both customers and team members.
· Problem-Solving: Strong decision-making skills and the ability to resolve customer or operational issues efficiently.
· Technical Skills: Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, ERP, and inventory management software.
· Languages: Fluency in English, French, and Arabic additional languages are an advantage, especially in international environments.

· Preferred Qualifications:
· Previous experience in duty-free retail or managing stores in airport or travel-related setting.
· Knowledge of luxury brands, cosmetics, alcohol, and tobacco products.
· Basic understanding of customs regulations and tax-free sales processes.
· Ability to work night shifts.
