The Telecom Back Office Engineer – IP Core is responsible for the technical support, monitoring, operation, and optimization of the IP Core infrastructure deployed in the data center environment. The role ensures high availability, performance, and reliability of IP Core network elements connecting main routers, DC Gateways (DCGW), spine–leaf fabrics, CBIS, and inter-data-center links by managing configurations, resolving incidents, supporting operations teams, and contributing to network expansion and optimization projects.
• Monitor and supervise IP Core network elements (main routers, DCGW, spine, leaf, CBIS, inter-DC and backbone links).
• Perform configuration, commissioning, and validation of IP Core routers and switches in coordination with data center and operations teams.
• Manage software upgrades, firmware updates, and patches on IP Core devices.
• Conduct acceptance tests, connectivity validation, and end-to-end traffic flow verification.
• Analyze and troubleshoot IP Core network incidents, alarms, and service degradations.
• Identify root causes impacting routing, forwarding, and redundancy mechanisms.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to maintain service stability.
• Escalate complex issues to vendors or higher-level engineering teams when required.
• Provide 2nd/3rd level support and ensure timely incident resolution in line with SLAs.
• Continuously monitor IP Core performance, latency, packet loss, and bandwidth utilization.
• Analyze KPIs and traffic patterns across DCGW, spine–leaf fabric, and inter-DC links.
• Propose and implement optimization actions to improve throughput, resiliency, and load balancing.
• Support capacity planning and scaling of IP Core and data center infrastructure.
• Prepare technical reports related to incidents, changes, and optimization activities.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date IP Core network documentation, configurations, and topology diagrams.
• Update inventory databases for routers, switches, links, and interfaces.
• Produce periodic performance, availability, and SLA reports.
• Coordinate with NOC, transmission, data center, and service teams for end-to-end service assurance.
• Participate in IP Core and data center network expansion, migration, and modernization projects.
• Provide technical input during design, implementation, migration, and acceptance phases.
• Interface with IP Core equipment vendors and service providers.
• Follow up vendor tickets and ensure compliance with technical and operational requirements.
• Validate delivered equipment, configurations, and services according to defined standards.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking and routing technologies (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, ECMP).
• Solid understanding of IP Core and data center architectures (DCGW, spine–leaf, inter-DC connectivity).
• Experience with high-capacity IP Core routers and data center switches.
• Knowledge of traffic engineering, QoS, and redundancy mechanisms.
• Experience with network monitoring and management tools (NMS, telemetry, syslog).
• Familiarity with ticketing systems and incident management platforms.
• Knowledge of packet capture and traffic analysis tools (Wireshark, tcpdump).
• Exposure to network automation and scripting tools is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work autonomously in a high-availability environment.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Team-oriented mindset with strong focus on service reliability and performance.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Networking, Computer Science, or Engineering.
• Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or vendor certifications (Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, Arista, etc.) are an advantage.
• 2–3 years of experience in telecom IP Core or data center network environments.
• Proven experience in operating and troubleshooting large-scale IP Core networks.
