IT & CORE Performance Engineer

Mission générale :

The IT & Core Performance Engineer is a technical authority responsible for the performance, stability, and quality of the Packet-Switched Core (2G/3G/4G/5G NSA).

He/she ensures optimal user experience for all data services, internet access, VoLTE/IMS anchoring, signaling, roaming, and interconnect by performing advanced KPI analysis, predictive analytics, capacity modelling, and cross-domain optimization.

Tâches principales :

A.     End-to-End PS Performance Management

• Monitor, analyze, and optimize performance KPIs of SGSN, GGSN/PGW, MME, SGW, PCRF, HSS/UDM, DNS/UPF, IP backbone interactions.

• Evaluate critical KPIs: Attach/TAU/RAU success, Bearer success, PDP/PDN setup, throughput (DL/UL), IP latency, mobility performance, DNS resolution, session stability, VoLTE anchoring via EPC, QoS enforcement, etc.

• Perform correlation analysis between PS Core – Transport – Radio to identify real root causes.

B. Optimization & Predictive Analytics

• Create advanced analytical models to predict congestion, degradation, or failures based on trends, or anomaly detection.

• Advice parameters at MME/SGW/PGW, PCRF policy rules, DNS timeouts, bearer QoS profiles, APN behaviors, and IP routing policies.

C. Capacity Engineering & Traffic Modelling

• Perform advanced capacity forecasting using statistical models or ML.

• Evaluate trends on CPU load, memory, interface utilization, GTP tunnel count, SGW/PGW sessions, APN congestion, DNS capacity.

• Provide dimensioning rules and mid/long-term requirements for EPC/5GC expansions.

• Evaluate transport/IP/MPLS interaction and ensure end-to-end latency compliance.

• D. PS Core Quality Programs & Governance

• Lead end-to-end Quality of Experience (QoE) assessments for mobile data, VoLTE over EPC, and IMS-related traffic.

• Benchmark performance against competitors and international standards.

• Define performance thresholds, methodology, and measurement procedures for all PS KPI/KQI.

• Contribute to regulatory KPIs and ensure compliance.

E. Tooling, Automation

• Develop or improve performance dashboards based on probes, DPI, analytics platforms, OSS, counters, and events.

• Build automation scripts (Python, SQL, API integrations) to accelerate analysis and reporting.

Compétences requises :

A. Technical Knowledge

• Deep mastery of PS Core nodes and protocols:
  SGSN, GGSN/PGW, SGW, MME, PCRF/PCF, DNS, HSS/UDM, UPF, SCEF, AMF/SMF (if involved)

• Full understanding of protocols:
  GTP-C/U, PFCP, Diameter (S6a, Gx, Gy), Radius, TCP/UDP/IP, SCTP, S1-AP, HTTP/2 for 5G SBA

• Strong experience with:

  • EPC/5GC end-to-end call flows

  • QoS profiles (QCI/5QI, ARP, GBR/Non-GBR)

  • IP/MPLS interactions and latency modeling

  • VoLTE anchoring through EPC

B. Data Analysis & Tooling

• Strong knowledge in performance tools: OSS, Probes, DPI systems, CEM tools.

• Mastery of data analysis (Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI).

• Ability to build predictive models, anomaly detection scripts, and automated dashboards.
