Job overview : The Feed Lead is responsible for managing and supervising the daily operations of the feed production unit, ensuring that the nutritional needs of the herd are met through optimized ration formulation, feeding schedules, and inventory management. The role supports senior nutrition and farm leadership by leading the feed team, maintaining accurate data, and driving continuous improvements in feed efficiency and animal performance.

Responsibilities:

Feed Unit Performance

Assist in driving the overall performance and efficiency of the feed production unit.

Nutrition & Feed Strategy Collaboration

Collaborate closely with farm management and nutrition specialists to ensure optimal herd nutrition and feed strategies.

Ration Preparation & Delivery

Ensure correct preparation and delivery of rations according to established feeding schedules and company policies.

Team Leadership & Supervision

Lead and supervise feed unit staff, providing clear role assignments and fostering teamwork.

Feeding Operations Monitoring

Monitor daily feeding operations to guarantee feeding times and volumes meet nutritional requirements.

Data & Inventory Management

Maintain accurate and timely data entry related to pen rations, feed inventories, and relevant operational factors using ERP systems.

Staff Training & Development

Train and develop feed unit staff to improve competence and achieve company objectives.

Safety Reporting

Identify and report workplace hazards, incidents, and near misses, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Animal Welfare & Policy Compliance

Enforce adherence to animal welfare guidelines and all relevant company policies within the feed unit.

Sustainability & Inter-Unit Coordination

Promote environmentally sustainable practices within feed production activities and support smooth inter-unit operations.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of working experience, including at least 3 years in a relevant feed production or animal nutrition role.

Regional (GCC) experience is an advantage.

Knowledge and Skills:

Dairy Nutrition & Ration Formulation

In-depth knowledge of dairy cattle nutrition, ration formulation, and feed management.

Leadership & Team Management

Strong leadership and team management skills to guide and develop feed unit staff.

Data & ERP Systems Proficiency

Proficiency in data management, record-keeping, and ERP systems such as SAP.

Health & Safety Awareness

Understanding of health and safety practices relevant to feed production environments.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including farm management and nutritionists.
