The South African Embassy in Algeria invites applications for the position of Social Secretary.
Salary: From 614,500 AD per annum exclusive of benefits
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate official social events, including guest lists, seating, menus, and logistics.
- Serve as protocol coordinator; liaise with host country authorities, diplomatic missions, and multilateral organizations.
- Maintain calendars for the Head of Mission (HOM) and/or spouse; manage appointments and travel arrangements.
- Draft routine correspondence, invitations, Note Verbales, and unclassified diplomatic documents.
- Provide interpretation and translation support in meetings and official engagements.
- Support administrative and clerical tasks, including record keeping, filing, and gift registers.
- Assist with conferences, summits, and official visits.
- Apply excellent customer service, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preferably in international relations, administration, languages, or related field).
- At least 5 years’ experience in administration, protocol, events coordination, or diplomatic support.
- Excellent command of English; proficiency in French and Arabic is an advantage.
- Strong translation and interpretation skills (English/French/Arabic).
- Computer literate (MS Office, Internet, digital communication).
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and culturally sensitive.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and diplomatic skills.
