Temporary Works Coordinator

Key Responsibilities

• Coordination & Management: Maintain the Temporary Works Register and track the status of all temporary works on-site from conception to removal.

• Design & Planning: Ensure that temporary works designs are commissioned, reviewed, and approved by qualified personnel (Temporary Works Designers).

• Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all temporary works are erected in accordance with the design specifications and that the site team has the necessary documentation.

• Communication: Act as the primary point of contact between site management, contractors, and design engineers.

• Risk Management: Review and approve risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) related to temporary works.

• Inspections: Conduct or delegate regular inspections of temporary works structures to ensure they remain safe throughout their lifecycle.

• Sign-off: Manage the "permit to load" or "permit to use" process for temporary structures to ensure they are not used until verified as safe.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of structural principles and engineering standards relevant to temporary works.

• Experience: Previous experience in a construction, civil engineering, or project management role with a focus on site safety.

• Certifications: Often requires specific industry certification (e.g., CITB Temporary Works Coordinator training or equivalent).

• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of local Health & Safety legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations).

• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships between site crews and design engineers.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to review complex technical drawings and identify discrepancies.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Accuracy and maintenance of the Temporary Works Register.

• Zero incidents or failures related to temporary works structures.

• Timely completion of inspection sign-offs and permits
